Camp Statement on March Jobs Report

U.S. Rep. Dave Camp (R-Midland), today issued the following statement in reaction to the announcement that the nation’s unemployment rate in March was 8.8 percent. “Make no mistake about it – though today’s unemployment numbers are encouraging, far too many residents in Michigan and across our nation remain un or underemployed. While we have taken a good first step in restoring confidence to job creators, we must continue to remove the impediments to sustained economic growth. Time and again I have heard from our friends and neighbors across the fourth congressional district of Michigan that Washington must do more to rein in spending, reduce the deficit and overhaul a tax code that is too complex and too burdensome.” Most recently, Michigan’s jobless rate was 10.4 percent in February.
