Camp Sworn-In to 113th Congress
Thursday, January 03, 2013

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Dave Camp (R-MI) was sworn-in to the 113th Congress by House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH).  Speaker Boehner conducted a ceremonial swearing-in for Camp following the oath of office on the floor of the House of Representatives.

Camp was joined by his wife Nancy, their three children, mother Norma and sister Margaret to mark this historic occasion.

Following the swearing in Camp stated, “I am honored the residents of Michigan’s Fourth Congressional District chose me to serve as their U.S. Representative.  As the 113th Congress begins, I remain focused on giving Michigan families and small businesses economic certainty.  We must encourage job creation through comprehensive tax reform and getting Washington's spending under control so we can get back to a balanced budget.”

Born and raised in Midland, Camp has served in the House of Representatives since 1991. Camp represents the people of the 4th Congressional District of Michigan, which spans fifteen mid-and-northern Michigan counties. Camp is the Chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means, which is one of the oldest and most powerful committees in the U.S. House of Representatives.

As the head of the Committee on Ways and Means, Camp is one of the most influential policymakers in Washington, D.C., helping to set the nation’s economic, health care and social welfare policies. His committee has sole jurisdiction over tax policy and oversees tariff and trade laws, Medicare, Social Security, welfare and unemployment programs.
